The tragic murder of four Muslim men in Albuquerque, New Mexico, created fear and prayers that the killer would be brought to justice. When the community learned that the suspect was Muslim with possible sectarian motivations, the news shocked the community to its core.
For decades, sectarian violence has devastated the lives of countless people in many majority Muslim countries. American Muslims have been blessed to be free of ugly sectarian violence that continues to plague many nations. At this moment, we must proudly reassert our unity and stand against sectarianism.
On Saturday, August 13th at 8:10 P.M. the Islamic Ahlul Bayt Assoication (IABA), The North Austin Muslim Community Center (NAMCC) and the Austin Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-TX) are holding an important prayer and unity service to remember the victims of the Albuquerque killings and call for Sunni Shia unity.

This program is open to the public. The program will consist of unity speeches from community leaders from IABA, the Imam of NAMCC Shaykh Islam, and Shaimaa Zayan, the Community Relations Coordinator with CAIR-TX. Law enforcement leaders and elected officials have also been invited to the program.
